I had a very non-eventful Labor Day Weekend from a fishing standpoint. I was strongly considering heading up to Lake Champlain on Monday with my father but the weather forecast called for strong thunderstorms and rain. We decided to not take a chance and stay home. Of course it never rained a drop the entire day.
This has been a very difficult tournament season for me so far. While I have won every club event I have fished this year, I haven't fared so well in the Federation Opens. It is pretty much impossible for me to make the state team now. This was one of my main goals at the beginning of the year after I realized I was locked out of the Bassmaster Opens.
The Federation Season comes to a close this weekened on Cayuga Lake. I would really like to finish strong and cash a solid check to build some momentum going into next year. I've only fished Cayuga twice but I like the lake and came very close to winning the Federation event there in 2011 (.01 lbs). I know what I have to do to fare well there. The lake itself is not that complicated. It just comes down to making good decisions based on the weather and executing.
Next Monday I should be able to give a nice detailed report on how I fished the lake. Hopefully I can talk about a nice winning pattern that I put together.
